"OEM Tanto " 9260 Spring Steel

This tanto is based off of the original Cheness Tanto, but deviates from our specs in several important places. Similarities are that it uses the same through hardened 9260 Spring Steel, same tsuba, and tsuka. Other than that, the differences start to stand out.

First is that the scabbard of this tanto has two metal end caps. One at the saya opening, and one at the end. Endcap is constructed of metal with a matt black finish, which contrasts with the glossy finish of the saya slightly. These are very functional additions and strengthens the saya significantly, though less attractive IMO.

Second major difference is the shape of the blade at the tip. The original Cheness Tanto uses a Shobu Zukuri geometry, where all ridges end in a point. The OEM tanto uses more of a production katana tip. This means the tip is more knife like rather than needle like. Additionally, there is a cosmetic kissaki added. Kissaki is created by use of polish mark.

These tantos were contracted to sell at $169.99 with a 30% margin. Now they are being liquidated at cost of $119.99. Liquidation sale price is as-is and final.

The material is still through hardened 9260 spring steel, and uses our original tsuka and tsuba. Custom specs included are: Addition of metal endcaps on both ends of scabbard, and tip geometry. Unlike our tanto, which uses a shobu zukuri geometry, this sword uses more of a tradition tip shape. It also has a cosmetic kissaki, achieved by polishing marks at the tip of the sword.
